Time to Sing — an Easter Message from Pastor David

Time to Sing!

Good Christian friends, rejoice and sing!
Now is the triumph of our king!
To all the world glad news we bring:
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia! (ELW 385)

Christ is Risen! The world has changed because of Easter. That’s the good news we proclaim, the heart of what we believe as Christians.

God knows the world is filled with enough bad news. The stuff that grabs the headlines or fills our hearts with terror is more than enough to cause worry, heartache, or despair. We are all too well acquainted with the agonizing pain of Good Friday, or for that matter any Friday
which we would not call good.

Yet Easter morning dawns on us with the stunning news that is surprisingly good. Friday is not the end of the story. God is even now wiping away our tears and making all things new. Death will be no more; grief and pain will be no more; because God isn’t satisfied with the way things are. Easter comes and we discover the secret of God: God chooses to love us to death and back to life again. God chooses love over power and might. God chooses to give you and me life and hope, a future of love! It’s time to sing!

Praise we in songs of victory
that love, that life which cannot die,
and sing with hearts uplifted high:
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

Your name we bless, O risen Lord,
and sing today with one accord,
the life laid down, the life restored:
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia! (ELW 385)

Peace in Christ,
Pastor David Jorstad
