March at the church

(From Pastor David Jorstad’s sermon on “The Transfiguration of our Lord Sunday,” adapted from a commentary on the text by Maryetta Madeleine Anschutz.)
The moment of transfiguration is that point at which God says to the world and to each of us that there is nothing we can do to prepare for or stand in the way of joy or sorrow. We cannot build God a monument, and we cannot keep God safe. We also cannot escape the light that God will shed on our path. We cannot escape God. God is Emanuel, God with us. God will find us in our homes and in our workplaces. God will find us at school and at play. God will find us when our hearts are broken and when we discover joy. God will find us when we run away from God and when we are sitting in the middle of what seems like hell. God in Jesus will find us there, touch us on our shoulder and say, “Come on…..get up and do not be afraid! Get up and do not be afraid!”

The Crush Quartet
The Crush Quartet performed February 16th at 4:00 pm. The Crush was formed in 2006, and since its inception, the quartet has been working to become a recognized name to barbershop and acapella fans alike, drawing on the sounds of jazz and swing. The foursome was formed in the ranks of the Masters of Harmony and the Westminster Chorus, and hails from Orange County, CA.
Everyone who attended really enjoyed the performance.
