New to SMLC?

Here are some answers to questions you may have.

You can expect to park in either our upper or lower parking lot and enter the sanctuary for worship. You'll be greeted by an usher who will hand you a paper bulletin that details the contents of that day's service. If you have children with you, there are canvas bags of fun stuff you can take with you to your seat. Worship will last around an hour, and include music, prayer, scripture readings, a sermon by Pastor Casey, and Holy Communion.

After worship, you'll be invited into Luther Hall for coffee and snacks. We call this Community Time, and there is often an activity, class, or speaker during this time, too.

Whether or not you are Lutheran, you are welcome to receive communion, for it is Christ who invites us to the table. We offer bread, gluten-free wafers, red wine, and white juice. Your children are welcome to come forward with you to receive communion, or they can receive a blessing from Pastor Casey if that is your preference. If mobility is a challenge for you, let an usher know that you would like communion brought to you at your seat. If you have specific questions about communion, you can contact Pastor Casey before you visit us or catch her on Sunday morning before the service begins.

You can fill out an online (short, confidential) visitor form to let Pastor Casey know a little more about you and your interests. If you're in the sanctuary, you can fill out a cream-colored visitor card (in the pew rack in front of you) by hand and either put it in one of the offering plates, hand it to an usher, or give it to Pastor Casey on your way out. Check out the Ministries and Events sections of this website for more info about what we're up to.

Membership at SMLC is open to any baptized person—if you haven't been baptized and would like to be, contact Pastor Casey! Members are able to vote on congregational business and are eligible to serve on the church council and other committees. Members are invited to support the congregation financially with an annual giving pledge. You do not have to be a member to join us for worship or other activities. If you are interested in learning more about membership, contact the Council President by visiting the Our Team section of this website.

Our campus is ADA-compliant. There are 10 accessible parking spaces in the lower parking lot. Both the sanctuary and Luther Hall, including the restrooms, are wheelchair accessible. The sanctuary has stepless entry, a ramp to the chancel, and accessible seating for wheelchair users and their companions. Luther Hall can be accessed via four steps with handrails or via a ramp. The restrooms are gendered and include a wheelchair-accessible stall. If you visit our campus and find any part of it inaccessible, please let us know. We are always striving to be better.

Ask away! If you don't find the information you're looking for elsewhere on this website, contact our Office Manager by visiting the Our Team section. Aimee will probably know the answer, or can connect you with the person who does.
